John McKernon has designed plays, musicals, ballets, restaurants, and nightclubs for clients across the United States, Europe, and Asia, his favorites being the Broadway production of "One Mo' Time" and Signature Theatre's "The Trip to Bountiful". He is currently Ken Billington's associate designer on the Broadway production of "Chicago". 2019 marks 40 years since John first started work on Lightwright, which was honored with the 2004 Eddy Award as Lighting Product of the Year, the LDI Lighting Tools and Software Product of the Year award in 1998 and 2003, and was named by Lighting Dimensions Magazine as one of the Products That Changed Our World. Since 2004 John has been a member of the Adjunct Faculty at the Tisch School of the Arts Department of Design for Stage and Film at NYU.
